Today’s walk-thru was attended by

  • Archangels: Fr. Harry, N. Aivalis, J. Konidaris
  • Rogers McCagg Architects: S. Law
  • A. Pappajohn Construction: J. Simonelli, G. Verses, B.Schafer

Flooring
Floor prep (“mud” substrate) in the Altar, Sacristy, Vestry, Bride’s Room, Narthex, and Cry Room is complete. These surfaces are ready to receive their finishes. Altar marble and Sacristy/Vestry floor laying should begin this week.

Wood Finishes
Wainscoting installation is 3/4 complete. Expect to be done before Friday. (picture attached)

Mosaic Cleaning
The mechanical lift was delivered this week. The Pantokrator Dome and the Panagia Platytera have been cleaned. The results are striking. A substantial amount of soot was removed from the mosaic tiles (before & after pictures attached).

Wall Finishes/Paint
The textured application to match existing conditions is blending in well. The painting crew is expected this week. We are counting on that to happen in order to stay on track with timing. They will take over use of the lift from Pappajohn. Existing condition paint samples are being taken again to be computer matched. The original selections were not recorded properly. Subsequent samples did not match well enough. This should not create a delay; it is a 1 day turnaround.

Lighting
Per my earlier email we will be replacing the 2×2 metal grate fixtures with LED bulbed recessed can fixtures rather than dimmable fixtures. We are working out details as to whether to put a lens cover on these fixtures for aesthetic appeal.

Loft
At our prior walk-thru there was discussion about tidying up the layout of the loft risers, associated carpentry, and steps. We have come up with a cost effective plan for this. It will result in a single stairway, an unobstructed loft aisle, and uniform pew lengths.

We will not hang a acoustic tile ceiling in the Loft Storage Room where the air handlers are housed. The ductwork below the rafters does not leave us with a practical clearance height. We are due a credit for that ceiling and will likely use part of that credit to insulate the rafters.

Please continue to spread the word about our work and our progress. The worship space is being transformed very nicely. If you haven’t seen it recently, do stop in.

Our next walk-thru will be scheduled for just after the New Year.
