At least 100 people attended Friday evening for the wonderful celebration of Koimesis/Dormition! We were blessed with a sizeable crowd for liturgy (more than we would have ever gotten for worship indoors) that included a new, young couple and some guests, along with beautiful weather for outdoor worship and fellowship. It was so comfortable and inviting – a rare occurrence for us to gather socially as a community of faith – that many stayed well past 8pm relaxing, enjoying the Greek music and conversation! Some said it was like being back in Greece for a summer visit that they were not able to take this year.
I wish to thank Antonia for the suggestion to do this, various Parish Council members led by Tim for their help in setting up, serving and cleaning up, along with John Skoparantzos who took time away from work to plan, purchase, prepare, and (with a crew of helpers) cook the wonderful meal, as well as John Cocolis. I have alerted the Archbishop how fruitful his blessing was for this to take place. Many years to all who celebrate their name day – Panagiotes (often Peter in English)/Panagiota, Despina, and Mary!
Many years as we celebrate this Great Feast not just today but throughout the coming week!
With love in Christ,
Fr. Harry
