What’s New This Week
October is Blind Awareness Month in the US, and this conversation highlights the lived experience of Dr. Lauren Barron — a licensed counselor, wife, and mother — who humbly offers wise counsel for families experiencing diagnoses of disabilities and other life challenges.
Blind herself, she found new insight regarding her disability when becoming Orthodox. Dr. Barron shares encouraging messages for families experiencing visual impairments, and tips for their seeing fellow parishioners. LISTEN HERE.
Consider with your spouse some “goals” for growing in oneness and what disciplines each of you will put into place to realize these goals.
Robert M. Hensel, the late disability advocate and poet who had Spina Bifida once said, “There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more.” That is, the true human disability is when we disconnect from what it means to be created in the image of God, as “fully human,” and thus discount the gifts of people with defined disabilities.
When humans do not know a living and repentant relationship with our Prototype, we simply paint a tainted image of what it means to be human.
We have a wide variety of topics for virtual or in-person retreats and workshops! Check out all we have to offer here.
