Recently, an alert member of our parish brought to the attention of the Ladies Philoptochos Society how recent immigrants are often caught in a bind between paying for medication or eating to stay alive. Deliberations include working with Building One Community (B1C), the outstanding, ecumenical, non-profit agency in Stamford that works with recent immigrants on many levels to help them transition to responsible, accountable life in America. Their long-standing relationships with these needy people make it attractive for us to work with B1C to aid them in an all-too-often overlooked area. Here is a wonderful new item about their work. Our parish, through the Mission & Philanthropy grant annually from the Foundation Fund along with individual contributors, has been financially supporting B1C for many years, and have networked with them in various ways. — Fr.
