I subscribe to The Wheel, a high quality journey of Orthodox thought, Sister Vassa (from the New York area) is an Orthodox scholar teaching in Austria, and Fr. John Behr, a former colleague of mine at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, is a leading Orthodox theologian.  Promises to be quite substantive, especially since the voices of informed women are not heard as much as those of men in the life of the Church.  — Fr. What does the war in Ukraine mean for the future of Orthodox Christianity?
The war in Ukraine has drastically altered not only the geopolitical landscape, but the Orthodox Christian world, exposing its conflicts and fractures to a global audience. What this conflict means for the future of Orthodoxy is yet unclear.

This two-day conference will address the question, “What does the war in Ukraine mean for the future of Orthodox Christianity?” from the perspective of Orthodox Christian women, a unique opportunity in a faith tradition whose institutional hierarchy is reserved for men.

This conference is co-organized by two of Orthodoxy’s leading independent organizations: Coffee with Sr. Vassa and The Wheel.

Both in-person and online tickets are available. Lunch and dinner on Friday and a light breakfast and lunch on Saturday will be provided. There will be a wine reception Friday evening.

A donation of $25 is suggested to defray food costs for those who will be joining in person.

The panelists include:

Sister Vassa Larin
Katherine Kelaidis
Tamara Eidelman
Archpriest John Behr
Lena Zezulin
Reba Korban
Inga Leonova
Emily Waters
