Dear Fathers and Sisters,
Christ is in our midst! I hope you have had a good beginning to the new ecclesiastical year and are settling into what the new “normal” is in parish life, at least for the time being.
Having encountered a few situations involving domestic violence in the past few years and the sparsity of resources in our Church for victims of domestic violence and those ministering to them, the timing seems appropriate for a webinar addressing this growing pastoral issue, which both priests and clergy wives may confront as they engage with members of their parish families.
In this webinar, “For Better or For Worse? Ensuring our Pastoral Responses are Helping Victims of Domestic Violence,” Paulette Geanacopoulos, LMSW, the director of Social Services for the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, with extensive experience working with victims of domestic violence, and Father Harry Pappas, a priest of almost 40 years who has ministered both to perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, will offer their knowledge and expertise in an interview-style webinar. Ample time will be allotted for participants to ask questions of them.  As always, the webinar will be archived for those unable to attend the live session and made available a few days following.
This webinar will be held on Tuesday, November 16th at 1 pm EST. To register visit:Â https://bit.ly/cc-domestic-violence.
Please see the attached flyer for all the details.
Respectfully in Christ,
